A screen protector is the cheapest way to avoid a screen repair. The question is which kind.
Film is thin, flexible plastic. It stops scratches from keys and sand, costs little, and is almost invisible. It won't do much when the phone is dropped.
Tempered glass is thicker and harder. When your phone lands on its face, the glass cracks instead of the screen, and replacing it costs a fraction of a new display. Good glass keeps the clarity and touch response of the original screen.
Matte and privacy glass add something extra: matte cuts glare and fingerprints, and privacy glass darkens the screen for anyone looking from the side. Both slightly reduce brightness.
For most people we recommend clear tempered glass. We install it for free in the store, dust-free and bubble-free, in about five minutes.
